Groundbreaking!
On May 9, North Port’s City Commissioners, City Manager and Utility Staff welcomed more than 60 guests to the groundbreaking of the wastewater treatment plant and expansion project. The plant expansion and enhancements are part of a $50 million program to accommodate growth in a manner that is both economically and environmentally responsible and efficient. Project benefits:
  • Expanding our supply of reclaimed water will reduce the demand that irrigation places on our water supply.
  • New technologies will reduce energy consumption through more efficient operations and reduce our "carbon footprint."
  • Advanced odor control technology will reduce odor levels in area surrounding the plant.
  • Improved effluent quality will further protect our natural resources.
